Dubai Weather Guide

Some say Dubai only really experiences 2 seasons: hot and hotter. The best time to visit is during the winter months, which is also peak tourist season. High summer in July and August, which also usually coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, is best avoided for travel.

Season and Clothing

Summer: May to September

Temperatures during the summer months can reach up to a crazy 50 degrees Celsius with over 90 percent humidity. Conditions in the water aren’t much better with temps around 38 degrees Celsius. On the plus side, this is the tourist low season and hotel rack rates are cheaper, but the hot and humid conditions together with the Ramadan holy month, when everywhere is pretty much in lockdown from sunrise to sunset, means it’s not the best time to visit Dubai.

Average temperatures: 24 – 39 degrees Celsius.
Appropriate clothing: At the beach: shorts and swimwear. In public: Lightweight dresses and pants, t-shirts and sandals.
Don’t forget: A hat, sunnies, water and SPF50+ sunscreen.

Winter: October to April

With warm days, cooler nights and only occasional downpours, winter is the ideal time to travel to Dubai, although it’s also peak tourist season so you’ll be sharing the sights, beach and mall with honeymooners, families and just generally visitors from all over the globe. Most of the main events such as Dubai International Film Festival, Islamic New Year and Dubai Shopping Festival also fall during these months, so you’ll need to plan your travel and accommodation well in advance.

Average temperatures: 14 – 34 degrees Celsius.
Appropriate clothing: T-shirts, pants, knee-length skirts, dresses and short-sleeve tops.
Don’t forget:A lightweight waterproof jacket.
