A slice of the Big Apple in Vegas

Not quite content with its own identity, Las Vegas has also adopted that of others, recreating the monuments of Paris, the canals of Venice and the glittering skyline of New York. Not quite like the Big Apple but pretty darn close, New York-New York Hotel and Casino is influenced by the city that never sleeps. It's towers resemble the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building as well as representations of the Statue of Liberty, Whitney Museum of American Art and Grand Central Terminal.

From the outside it's a surreal site. Inside it's an equally uncanny experience. The casino's shops look like they are straight out of Greenwich Village, a games arcade replicates the fun of Coney Island while the casino's restaurants trick your taste buds into thinking you're in New York with hot dogs and pizza.

New York-New York's best gimmick though is the roller coaster. Not necessarily New York themed but fun never the less, the roller coaster includes a drop of 144 feet and simulates a jet fighter's barrel roll. The casino also boasts three golf clubs as well as a large pool space complete with deck space, cabanas and Jacuzzi.

Shows are also a big part of New York-New York's appeal with Broadway style musicals and avant garde circus performances taking part every night. But for all its attractions, a photo in front of the 46 metre replica State of Liberty is a must.
