Don't miss the thrill rides
A casino and hotel with a focus on fun, the Stratosphere is where thrills and spills are combined with casino games. Located on Las Vegas Boulevard just north of the strip, the Stratosphere stands out with its 350 metre high observation tower, the tallest structure in Las Vegas and the tallest observation tower in the USA. While the views from the top are guaranteed to take your breath away - it's not the only thing that will.
While its height can't help but stand out, the Stratosphere is best known for its heart pounding thrill rides. Located at the tower's 2 observation decks, the Stratosphere has a total of 4 rides. Standing at 329 metres high, the Big Shot is a rapid ascent ride that reaches speeds of up to 72 kilometres per hour and ranks as the highest thrill ride in the world. The second highest thrill ride in the world, Insanity, involves dangling riders over the edge of the tower before spinning on a 70 degree angle.
Not to be outdone, the Stratosphere also has the third highest thrill ride in the world, the X-Scream, an open top roller coaster that rolls both backwards and forwards. The last of the 4 is the SkyJump, the highest controlled free fall jump in the world. Needless to say none of these rides are for the faint hearted, nor those afraid of heights.
If you'd rather keep your feet on the ground you can simply enjoy the view from the observation deck over a stiff drink at the AirBar, the tallest bar in Las Vegas. Other thrills can be found within the casino where live shows and entertainment take place regularly.
