Vancouver Currency Guide
Vancouver uses the Canadian Dollar.
ATMs can be found thoughout Vancouver on main streets, outside banks and in shopping centres. If you plan on withdrawing money or using your credit card while travelling, don't forget to notify your bank before you go for security purposes and to check what international withdrawal fees may apply to your card.
Before you leave home, it's a good idea to convert some of your Australian Dollars into Canadian Dollars to have with you when you arrive. Canadian Dollars are available to pre-purchase from Travel Money Oz, which does not charge fees or commissions.
In addition to cash, consider bringing a credit card with you on your Vancouver holiday for safe spending. If you don't have a credit card, think about purchasing a pre-paid travel money card. Available from Universal Traveller, a Cash Passport allows you to load your own money onto the card in the form of Canadian Dollars and other major currencies, which can then be accessed at various ATMS and used wherever MasterCard is accepted.
