Need another reason to visit concrete jungle, New York City? What about an indepedent music festival that has featured the likes of Björk, Ryan Adams, Death From Above 1979, Lana Del Ray and The Black Keys in the past and already has a crossword puzzle out to give hints of who might appear in 2016? Governor's Ball, also known as Gov's Ball, is a delight for inner-city pressure and indie rock, alternative rock, folk, hip-hip and electronic music fans. Oh, and there's plenty for foodies too.

I said what about breakfast at...

... A food truck featuring some of NYC's finest? Well you can at the Governor's Ball. The three-day music festival not only showcases a wide range of eclectic music from across the world, but NYC restaurants and other various other side activities to bring you the full New York experience. With an apparent lack of NYC music festivals (although endless solo gigs), the Governor's Ball was started in 2011 by a small and independent operator. The Gov's Ball has received positive responses ever since, probably because they always put the punter experience first. Yeah!

Held in June at Randall's Island Park, the festival has been hit by weather problems in the past but is a unique chance to do festival plus the fun of the city. Randall’s Island Park is located in the middle of New York City taking over most of an island in between Manhattan, Queens and The Bronx. In addition to music and food, Governor's Ball has lawn games (hello Bocce), art installations, gift booths, flower crowns, water stations, bars, silent discos and much more.
