Cheap flights to Zurich
Nestled at the northern end of Lake Zurich, although not the official capital of Switzerland, Zurich is the most populated city in the country and the trendiest. Zurich has shaken off its long-held stigma of a dull banking city and now attracts a trendy, energetic crowd that keep the streets pulsing, especially in August during its annual Street Parade festival. The city is divided by the Limmat River, dotted with green open spaces and overlooks dense forests. Zurich is also the transport hub of Switzerland and our Universal Traveller consultants can not only get you there on the cheapest flights possible, but also help plan your sightseeing, tours and activities while you're there.
Zurich Airport (ZRH), locally referred to as Zurich Kloten Airport after the area it’s located in, or in German, Flughafen Zurich, is the largest airport in Switzerland and a gateway to most other destinations in the country with excellent surface transport links. The municipality of Kloten is around 12 kilometres north of the city centre. For connections to downtown, most passengers head to the airport’s rail station located under the airport terminal to catch the S-bahn to Zurich’s Hauptbahnhof Station. Consider buying a ZurichCARD for use on public transport and entry to museums. Trains to other Switzerland destinations usually depart from the airport station, however some may require a transfer at Hauptbahnhof. For hotels and attractions nearby the airport there are also bus and tram routes from the airport. Your Universal Traveller consultant can help advise on the best option for your itinerary or organise a private transfer.

Two of the 3 main churches in Zurich are south of the main train station - Fraumunster, famous for its beautiful windows, and St Peterskirche, which boasts Europe’s largest clockface. The other, Grossmunster, is directly across the river, with its 2 Romanesque towers a good landmark to orientate yourself in the city. The Limmat River makes for a great swimming place in summer, one of the coolest spots to do so is north of the lake in Lettensteg. West Zurich is fast becoming home to the trendiest folks, hippest bars and fun recreational activities. There is no shortage of rich culture in Zurich with many museums including the Swiss National Museum and the Zurich Museum of Art. If fine culture sounds more your style, then pop the Neo-Classical Zurich Opera House down on your list of places to visit.
