Both North America and South America offer unparalleled ski experiences for snow lovers, spanning the epicness of Canada, the USA and the emerging destinations of Latin America. The USA itself offers some of the most enviable snow reports and you can snag cheap ski holidays to a number of high-standard resorts with immaculate runs and lifts, huge annual snowfall levels and great places to stay and play.

You can ski USA in many of its 50 states with 400-plus fields dotted across the country. Colorado is probably the most popular state to ski in the US with more than 27 resorts scattered across the Rocky Mountains, including the household name, Aspen. Montana is another sweet place to find cheap ski holidays in the USA. Check out Bozeman, the adventure capital of the Northern Rockies. Bozeman's all about cowboys, pick-up trucks, ski-bums and unleashed dogs – definitely a more relaxed, cooler vibe than a place like Aspen.

South America has its own ski season separate to North America to boast about with ski resorts and cheap ski holidays on offer across Argentina and Chile especially. There is a ski resort in Bolivia, Chacaltava, that has the highest lifts in the world – not bad if you’re not scared of heights, and a bit of a thrill if you are.

Ski Destinations

When it comes to ski destinations in the USA for great cheap ski holidays, think Winter Park in Colorado, Jackson Hole in Wyoming, Alta and Snowbird in Utah, Vail in Colorado or Big Sky in Montana. The resorts are prime, the snow is powdery and thick, and there are a heap of touristy things to do in the surrounds while you’re at it. When it comes to ski destinations in South America, think diverse infrastructure and cheap holiday deals. Snow love across the border is a little more rustic than you’d find in the USA, but there are plenty of swanky ski resorts in South America on the rise, and the Andes mountain range that splits Argentina and Chile is magnificent in every way.

Ski Resorts

USA. It's the home of supersized everything and that includes ski fields – many with over 1,000 hectares of skiing terrain. Powder Mountain is the largest at 2,227 hectares, but some other notably large fields include Vail Ski Resort, Heavenly, Squaw Valley, The Canyons, Big Sky, Park City, and the aptly named Mammoth Mountain.
In Canada, it's all about Banff, Whister Blackcomb and the back country terrain. In South America, head to Las Lenas, Cerro Catedral, Chapelco, Cerra Bayo in Argentina or Portillo, Valle Nevado, La Parva and El Colorado in Chile.
